Chef Weights- Embroidery Machine Magic for the Holidays

This CW is 4 years old and still used daily and yes that was my beer :)

The Thanksgiving dishes are done, the leftovers are tucked away and it is time to start thinking about the holidays.  Lets think simple and meaningful this year with a gift that all the cooks in your life will appreciate.

Chef Weights are made in the 5x7 embroidery machine frame and take less than 7 minutes each to make something just right and oh so usable for those who love nothing better than to spend either free time whipping up something delicious in the kitchen.

To be clear, all the sewing/assembling ( save slip stitching up the bottom) happens in the hoop.. making this a really fast and easy project!

With three designs in combination with all the fantastic fabrics on the market today what you can do with this simple gift is just about endless! A local charity used these as their gift-away for all the ladies who came to the cooking theme luncheon.. they were a HUGE hit.. I could not have been more thrilled that they used my designs to further their cause and you can feel free to do the same.

( On average with plastic pellet filling, fabric and ribbon these cost less than $1 each- really!)

The zipped file delivered via e-mail within 24 hours of ordering is packed full of design file types ( PES, EXP, DST, VIP, HUS), instructions (pdf) and a printable file that creates hang-tags for all your gift giving or small craft market needs.

Click CHEF WEIGHTS to be taken to my store front for more information and order details.

Needle Felting date change

The date for the Needle felting class is changing!.. Please keep an eye on the Stitchology Facebook page for the most current information!

Well that was fun!

Tonight's hand stitching class was wonderful!.. Stitches were reviewed, samples were made ( some thread was tangled)  and projects were planned.  Thanks to all who came.. it was great!

And a SUPER big thanks to Bari J. for letting us use the sweet sampler from her website

New Price- Sew Nice!

Take a moment to swoon and even better I scored a seriously great price on it!

I heard from quite a few of you that you really wanted to take the Scarf Class but the price was just too steep- I totally hear you.  While I LOVE the voile that I used I know it is expensieeeevveee and thus not really the right price point for making a lot of scarves to give as gifts.

Well behold a gift from the fabric gods...  I scored 5 yards of this London Voile ( 100% cotton) for an amazing price that is going to allow me to lower the price of the class and still feed my family!

The hitch is that I only have enough of this for 4 class participants, I have another pattern on order but not sure if I will get it in time ... but 4 lucky people  get the chance at the class for the smacking hot deal price of $17 each.  Of course if you want to use the other fabric ( which I LOVE)  that is all good too!...

So there you go - sew nice at a new price  and of course if you want to bring your own fabric there is an option for that too! ... so sign up already!

Sew Happy, Sew Creative!

Hello everyone, just a quick note to connect with you during the holiday weekend! I hope everyone is having a great time and taking time to give their creative side a little attention even if it's is something as little as stitching a tiny little owl on a very small button.  I am thinking this might be a fun class...no?

Last night's Days for Girls sew in was wonderful.  This photo was taken as I was setting up but in no time sergers were whizzing, machines were humming and lots of fabric was being sewn for a very good cause. Seven ladies in all sewed and chatted until almost 11pm.. it was great!

Some time Monday I will be posting up some new classes including the Ticker Tape Mug-Rug class,  some paper piecing and possibly a very sweet project that  would be perfect for the holidays.

Also check out the Taming of the Machine private sessions (scroll down).. they are filling up fast. I am planning to only book 4-6 of these a month so if you need some one on one attention for you and your machine  before the holidays make sure to get  time booked soon.

Until then, sew happy and be creative!

Maddie

Love to hear from you, feel free to leave a comment.

Stitchology out and about

Did you know that I take my "show on the road" and that you can find me at local sewing stores and quilt shops?  I even  leave my cozy little home town at times and accept conference teaching gigs!

Coming up soon at Chattanooga Sewing -

I will totally be getting my ruffle-on and teaching all about the ruffling foot.  This retro gizmo can do all sorts of amazing things and you can learn to be a ruffling maven in no time at all!

Liberated Stars will also be seen this Fall....  this is a rather sedate version..  but when I get going these are as wild and funky as it gets!

More to come.....

Celebrating by giving back!

Dear all... I am getting so close.. of course everything takes way longer than it should and money does not grow on trees that is for sure but one thing is true.. I am blessed beyond measure.   With my blessings in mind I want to give back and have chosen to do so by sponsoring a sew-in for the Days of Girls Organization

Please take some time to get to know the mission of this most wonderful charity. No girl, or woman should have to go without feminine hygiene items or be forced to stay home from school or work due to lack of these most basic of supplies.

In order to include as many people and sewing levels as possible we will be making the drawstring bags that are needed to hold the pads, washcloths and soap that DFG supplies for those who need it most.

You can join the celebration in a couple of differnt ways-

Come to the sew-in on September 3 from 7-10pm at the Stitchology studio in Chattanooga. Bring your machine and white thread and scissors. ( please RSVP so I have have enough supplies ready! maddie6@bellsouth.net)

Can't come but have fabric?- we need you too!  Good quality quilting weigh fabrics that are at least 16x22 inches in size are what the bags are constructed from. Pattern and color do not matter. Please contact me about dropping off your donation or shipping it to me if you are father away! maddie6@bellsouth.net

Don't sew but want to help?  Days for Girls needs new  cotton wash cloths and packs of new cotton panties, if you would like to buy some and drop them by the studio I will make sure they get in the box and are shipped to the DFG distribution center.

Short of time or too far away?... you can dontate directly to DFG at this link  DONATE
